Service Description
Weightlifting taster session Starting lifting can be a difficult choice, you may be unsure whether you can even do any of the movements, not be strong enough, or feel you’re “too old”. The Full Time Weightlifting taster sessions are an easy intro to learning the lifts, transition into deeper learning is possible from this session. We will cover the basics of Snatch, Clean and the Jerk. Learn the difference between the lifts, the different grips used, and how to move a bar overhead. Along the way, we will highlight strengthening exercises that build up a strong body that is able to lift, weightlifting is extremely demanding! The session will be at an easy pace, so don’t worry about your fitness level to begin with, let’s just start!! Based over 75 minutes with one of Oxford Powersports lifters, you will gain an idea of important positions, and how to move a bar around the body, to really get a feel of what it’s like to Olympic lift. The sessions will be held quarterly. The dates are on the website, they are subject to change, depending on numbers. Sessions will have a maximum of 6 lifters. Likely you will find your weaknesses which you can work on with us, or in your own time with your PT away from us. Of course, it’s best to continue development with us, we are extremely specialist at this, you may want to use the skill for building a healthy strong body (especially those that are getting a bit older) or you can set bigger targets, such as making your way onto the platform at a comp. All these things are possible here at Oxford Powersports, there are many options from this point. 75 mins, £25 min 4, max 6.
